"575 Castro"
Back for a limited time: 575 Castro was one of the original 10 models from Westward's debut Spring 2012 collection. Each style celebrated a specific human achievement and told the story through its signature side accent materials. In honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, we are re-releasing this classic style for a limited time.
The story: The first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California wasn’t always a politician: in fact, before Harvey Milk won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, he owned and operated a camera shop, located on 575 Castro Street in the heart of the city’s gay neighborhood. This model celebrates the life of Harvey Milk, and honors all LGBTQ+ people who carry on the struggle for equality.
The accent material: The rainbow flag, a symbol of gay pride, has been a hallmark of the LGBTQ+ social movement since the 1970s. This model features rainbow-colored beading, carefully hand threaded down the side of each temple.
Frame Color: Polished Black Acetate
Lens: Standard Grey G15
Signature Side Accent: Rainbow-colored hand-beaded temples
