This model celebrates the beauty, culture, and rich history of our international neighbors to the south, the people of Mexico.
Please visit our partner non-profit, Love Thy Neighbor Mexico, for more information.
In honor of the many contributions of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, this model features chaquira beads, which have long been used by the Huichol people in western central Mexico to produce breathtaking beaded mosaics. Both the beads and their pattern are inspired by indigenous art made by Huichol artisans. Each swatch of beading is first made on a loom and then inlaid into the frame by hand.
For summer 2014, we've updated Love Thy Neighbor with orange mirrors and our new pepper tortoise shiny acetate frames.. Combined with our original beadwork, these sunglasses are the perfect complement to festival season style.
For every pair of sunglasses sold, we donate $10 to Love Thy Neighbor Mexico, a non-profit whose mission is to spread awareness to young Americans about how illicit drug demand in the U.S. is linked to the drug war and consequent violence in Mexico.
