When Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana territory from France in 1803, he probably didn’t anticipate the impact that New Orleans would have on the history of American music. This model celebrates New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz.
In honor of New Orleans’ unique contribution to American music, this model features brass, the metal used to make the trumpet, an instrument made famous by New Orleans native Louis Armstrong.
For every pair of sunglasses sold, we donate $10 to the Jazz Foundation of America’s “Agnes Varis Jazz in the Schools” program, which pays talented jazz musicians to perform for kids in public schools. Established to help New Orleans musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the program supports over 1,000 elderly jazz and blues musicians in need, and brings their performances to over 85,000 students each year.
